Local Spotlight: Seekonk Tree Farm
Picking out our Christmas tree at Seekonk Tree Farm is hands-down one of my favorite traditions. Every year, the day after Thanksgiving (our version of Black Friday shopping), we bundle up and wander through the trees to find our perfect one. Funny enough, we always end up going with the first tree we look at.
Now, our idea of “perfect” might be a little different than most people! We love picking out the more sparse, “Charlie-Brown esque” trees as my Mom calls them. We place our tree in the living room corner right in front a large glass door and window, so the gaps between the branches allow light to come through and you can actually appreciate all of our fun ornaments!
The farm’s old pickup truck with a tree in the back is the cutest - it’s begging to be in your holiday photos, and is most definitely insta-worthy. They have an awesome selection of pre-cut trees organized by size, and the group working are so helpful and kind. You can also cut your own if you’re feeling adventurous (next year, we’re planning to tag ours in October, which I’m already so excited about!). As if it couldn’t get cuter, visit their Christmas shop which is homey and filled with adorable ornaments and decorations, and we always grab a wreath there to complete the trip.
Decorating is my absolute favorite part of the season, but this year was a little different. After my fall, I couldn’t do it the way I normally would. I was lucky enough that my parents helped me so I could at least go pick out the tree this year, it wasn’t easy but it was a nice spot of joy I needed during that week. Then my Mom stepped in and decorated for me while I “supervised” (and helped a little where I could). We’ve used most of the same decorations and ornaments for probably the majority of my life, so every year opening up the bins of ornaments and stocking holders is so nostalgic and brings me so much joy - which is what the holidays are all about!!
Cheers!
P.S. If you’re in need of a little extra serotonin boost, do yourself a favor and check out the “Dogs of Seekonk” gallery on their website - soooo cute.
